'About mahalie.com' or 'About Me (mahalie)'
This site is my personal web space and my target audience is my family and friends that are strewn all over the place.
It's also for the local kids who's pics and tales grace my web log. My ramblings are just that...sporradic and inconsistent...sometimes thoughtful sometimes thoughtless.
I am a girl who lives in Ballard, loves Ballard, breathes Ballard. You can see me on the streets on my skate board ( I can't ollie...blah), on foot and most often with my digicam and notebook. I like to draw (people, floorplans and comics) and paint things. I am currently painting copies of many classics...sort of a self-made art school and I have done a few canvas paintings by commission and a lot of print work. I do some web design, you can see some of my work at 23rdworld.com. I am taking this opportunity (a bio page) to inflict my favorite quotes on you. After all, I need to store them somewhere and I believe quotes people identify with tell more about them than any polished autobiography: On life: "There it is. I don't believe in anything, but I'm always glad to wake up in the morning. It doesn't depress me. I'm never depressed. My basic nervous system is filled with this optimism. It's mad, I know, because it's optimism about nothing. I think of life as meaningless and yet it excites me. I always think something marvelous is about to happen." "If a is a success in life, then a equals x plus y plus z. Work is x; y is play; and z is keeping your mouth shut."On love: "Nonattachment is not the elimination of desire. It is the spaciousness to allow any quality of mind, any thought or feeling, to arise without closing around it, without eliminating the pure witness of being. It is an active receptivity to life." "To fear love is to fear life, and those who fear life are already three parts dead."Friends' quotes: "Life does not belong to us; we belong to life." "No thought is original, including this one." "I'm either occasionally brilliant or frequently dumb."On everything else: "I am a plant eater." |
